This is a daily record of 1,564 coronavirus deaths in the UK.

Some 400,000 Britons a day could soon receive vaccines, as Covid vaccines are distributed around the clock, government sources said yesterday.

The doses promised by the PM will be rolled out day and night as a huge flow of vaccine becomes available.

Boris said the vaccination process is already going exceptionally fast but for now the limit is on supply.

He told the Commons: We have a huge network of 233 hospitals, 1,000 GP surgeries, 200 pharmacies and 50 mass vaccination centers.

He promised there would be a big, big flow of vaccines coming, and promised to set up 24/7 vaccination centers as soon as possible.

The pledge came as the NHS began setting up pilot projects to allow night-shift healthcare workers to take the brunt.

Nighttime vaccinations began last month in Israel, where up to 150,000 people a day received the vaccine before New Year’s Eve.

Last night, a YouGov poll found that 43% of Britons would be ready to take the blow between midnight and 6 a.m.

‘FIRST DAYS’

More than half said they would take a late night slot.

Despite yesterday’s dark benchmark, Mr Johnson said we are seeing the start of some signs that the lockdown is working.

But he warned that it was only the first few days as he implored the public to obey the rules.

Hospitals are under enormous pressure with 36,489 Covid patients, although the new cases confirmed yesterday have fallen to 47,525.

Officials last night confirmed that the UK has enough doses to offer 13 million jabs by mid-February.

‘Sign up for a return to normal life’

By Boris Johnson

On Monday, we published our plan to vaccinate as many people as possible, as quickly as possible, across the UK.

It’s a huge logistical challenge but we are already making great progress.

More than two million people in England have been vaccinated to date, including more than a quarter of nursing home residents and a third of those over 80.

Over 1,000 vaccination sites are open across the country and we will soon be protecting hundreds of thousands of vulnerable people every day.

Were on track to deliver the shot to 15 million most vulnerable people by mid-February, and then to all adults over 50 in the spring.

But it will be the biggest vaccination campaign in NHS history and a monumental national effort like this demands that each of us do what we can to help.

The Suns Jabs Army campaign is a shining example of the power of collective action.

It has already inspired businesses and workplaces across the country to join the call to arms.

So today, I am calling all those who have time to join the legions of volunteers already registered and to further increase the number of volunteers.

This includes the public sector workers of all stripes who kept essential services running during the pandemic and the dedicated and hardworking public servants serving the public every day.

There are some very difficult weeks ahead.

The Covid cases are putting enormous pressure on the health service.

We once again call on everyone to stay home to stop its spread and protect our NHS.

But each day vaccines take another step forward in their race for the virus; one more step towards protecting the public and defeating Covid.

Volunteers will speed up our vaccination program.

So sign up if you can and help the country get back to normal life.

A government source said: We were in a good position and had enough to meet our commitment, with the offer continually improving.

We are already vaccinating more than 200,000 per day and are far from meeting the mark.

“If things go well, we could do 400,000 a day, three million a week, by early February.

The PM has hinted to MPs that vaccine bundles for distribution later this year could be moved forward and replaced when others get approval.

The Vaccine Minister also said more than two million Britons per week will receive the vaccine by the end of the month.

If things go well, we could do 400,000 hits a day.

Nadhim Zahawi admitted that initial supplies had been inconsistent but now had line of sight on deliveries until the end of February.

He told the Science and Technology Committee that the idea that we are sitting on a lot of stock is not true.

AstraZeneca, which has developed a jab with the University of Oxford, said the UK has 1.1 million doses to use.

The company said it will deliver two million per week by mid-February and may be able to exceed that figure by April.

Tom Keith-Roach, chairman of AstraZeneca UK, told MPs: We are moving very quickly, and it will happen imminently, to release two million doses per week.

“Were absolutely on track to do so and therefore deliver tens of millions of doses in the first quarter of the year.

If we average two million a week over the year, that brings us to the 100 million doses that have been committed in the UK through 2021.

Supermarkets are also joining them, with Asda becoming the first major retailer to start offering jabs later this month.

The NHS is also planning to massively increase the number of participating pharmacies, following widespread criticism.

Boots and Superdrug will be the first from today, with 70 additional pharmacies booked for next week.

People could also be beaten in gyms under plans about to be approved by NHS England.

PureGyms, which has 270 sites in the UK, aims to distribute 5,000 per week, from Coventry.

A government spokesperson said: The UK has already vaccinated more people than any other country in Europe. And we are mobilizing the government, the NHS and our armed forces as part of a massive national effort.

Our supply and deliveries will support the vaccination of the four main groups of the Joint Vaccination and Immunization Committee by February 15.
