VIDEO – Aceh follows President Jokowi's instructions to speed up connectivity with Andaman India

SERAMBINEWS.COM, ANDAMAN – A delegation from the Aceh government led by the acting governor of Aceh Ir Nova Iriansyah MT, paid a five-day working visit to India (February 16-20, 2020).
This visit followed the meeting of Indonesian President Joko Widodo with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Asean-India summit in Bangkok on November 4, 2019 and following the results of the first meeting of the Joint Joint Task Force (JTF) to Banda Aceh on December 7, 2019..
Prior to the Aceh delegation's visit, a follow-up to the results of the meeting between President Joko Widodo and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also conducted by Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi with Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Friday December 13, 2019 in New Delhi.
There are six points agreed between the two heads of state regarding Aceh and Andaman, namely the areas of trade and investment, connectivity Aceh and Andaman & Nicobar, infrastructure development of the Sabang and Andaman Islands, sustainable development in the field of marine and fishery resources, tourism, as well as cultural exchanges, education, science and technology.
The Aceh delegation's visit to India was warmly welcomed by parts of the Bollywood country.
No less than the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Industry and Trade of India, as well as the Governor of Tamil Nadu and Governor Andaman Nicobar, participated in the delegation of Aceh composed of interim governors and heads of SKPA, BPKS and Kadin.
There are at least three agreements that can be immediately followed by both parties.
However, two of them require decisions at central level, from the government of the Republic of Indonesia and the government of India in New Delhi.
The active role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassies of the two countries will largely determine the success of the mission of President Joko Widodo and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
