The Prime Minister is expected to take stock of international travel as part of his latest response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Boris Johnson will lead a press conference in Downing Street, joined by England’s Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty and Chief Science Advisor Sir Patrick Vallance on Monday 5 April.
It has been reported that the PM will announce a traffic light system to assess overseas destinations, lowering controls on travel to countries considered to be of the lowest risk.
Under current UK lockdown rules, overseas holidays will only be allowed on May 17 at the earliest, with Gatwick and Heathrow currently open only for essential travel.

The prime minister is set to outline the government’s approach to lifting restrictions on overseas vacations from May 17 at the earliest.

Travelers from the Philippines, Pakistan, Kenya and Bangladesh will not be allowed to pass through Heathrow or Gatwick airports from 4 a.m. on April 9 to protect the UK from new variants of the coronavirus.
