Photo of Muslim man with Prime Minister Modi has gone viral on social media
Calcutta: Even as AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi scoffed and tried to guess what the Muslim man pictured with Prime Minister Narendra Modi might have said to the latter, Times Now tracked down the man, identified as Zulfikar Ali, to find out what he had really whispered in the Prime Minister’s ears.
While Owaisi guessed that the man may have told the prime minister he was “ not Bangladeshi ” or expressed his displeasure with the NRC, the reality is far from different. In fact, unlike criticism from political parties that the man was a BJP “public relations thing”, in reality it was the Prime Minister’s wish to be clicked with the Prime Minister.
“I will remember those 40 seconds for 40 years. My children will also remember those moments. He (PM) asked me what your name was. I said, Zulfikar Ali. He asked me what you are. want to become. I said I don’t I don’t want to be an MP, MP. I just want to work for the country … I want a photo with you … “Ali told Padmaja Joshi of The Times Now.
Ali also clarified that no one asked him to approach the PM, but he was the one who wanted to click on a selfie with the PM.
I’m not Bangladeshi: Owaisi guesses what the man said to the PM
In a video posted to his Twitter account, Owaisi attempted to guess what the man “ might have said to PM Modi. ”
“The media asked me what he said. I said I didn’t know him. He might have said – Modiji, I’m not a Bangladesh … He might have told Modiji that we wouldn’t show papers for NRC / NPR .. He might have said, Modiji, we don’t let’s not support the Triple Talaq law… Or, he may have asked the prime minister – when are you going to wear a cap like me, ”Owaisi says in the video.
Interestingly, the development comes at a time when the Election Commission issued a notice to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her comments, in which she called on the Muslim community to vote en bloc for the TMC.
In response, Banerjee asked why no notice had been served on PM Modi. “Why was no complaint filed against Narendra Modi, who speaks every day of Hindu and Muslim (voting banks)? How many complaints were filed against those who had uttered the word ‘mini Pakistan’ during campaigns Nandigram? has its own style of speech, its own rhetoric. Keep laughing at me as many times as you want. Lakshman rekha, it will only be a reflection of who you are, ”Banerjee said.
