Prime Minister Narendra Modion encouraged people to use the old Indian tradition of greeting with namaste, instead of using a normal handshake as one of the measures to prevent the transmission of the new coronavirus. While addressing the public by videoconference, Prime Minister Modi assured to spread Jan Aushadhi Kendras to every nook and cranny of the country.

Janaushadhi Kendras has started in 700 of 728 districts in India. The PM said that every month more than one crore of families was taking medication from Jan Aushadhi stores.

Currently, there are 6,200 Janaushadhi Kendras who supply medicines for several diseases and supply different surgical instruments and medical equipment. Janaushadhi week is celebrated from March 1 to 7.
