Tom Brady's message about free agency: "Nobody knows anything"
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady remained out of public view, even with dramatic media coverage of his impending free agent decision. But to some extent, he broke his silence this week.
As transcribed by Mike Reiss of ESPN, Charlie Weis relayed information from Brady on "Opening Drive" of Sirius XM NFL Radio, a program that Weis hosts.
"I have a little scoop for us. I texted with Tommy, "said Weis, who acted as offensive coordinator for Brady in New England. "I don't (usually) transmit these conversations, but he told me one thing:" Nobody knows anything. So anyone who tells you that they know, they don't know. Brady is an imminent free agent and can enter into negotiations with other NFL teams on March 16, with the option of signing elsewhere on March 18. Brady's contract prevents the Patriots from placing the franchise on him, so if New England fails to deliver a respectable offer, the quarterback can explore free agency for the first time in his career.

Jeff Darlington of ESPN said he would be stunned if Brady returned. ESPN Reiss thinks Brady's return is 80% likely.
