High School Football: Michael OBriens Super 25 Ranking for Week 10
Now that the path to a state title has been revealed, it’s easy to overlook what happened in Week 9. Not here in the Super 25 world. Week 9 is important.
Glenbard West, Marist, Prospect and Glenbard North all suffered losses and dropped out of the rankings. That will probably be quite controversial at Glen Ellyn and at Pulsaski and 115th, but you can’t believe in being a historical power forever.
The Hilltoppers were eliminated on Saturday and have not had a major win this season. The same goes for Marist. All three of RedHawks’ losses are to CCL/ESCC Blue teams, but they weren’t actually in any of the games at the end. Meanwhile, teams like St. Ignatius and Fenwick have battled those same teams, even taking some wins.
I gave Glenbard North the benefit of the doubt for most of the season. I think the DuKane might be better than most people thought at the beginning.
Naperville North, which is only 6-3 but has beaten Naperville Central and split a few games with Neuqua Valley, jumps the rankings for the first time this season.
There are also three undefeated teams on the edge of the coverage area that deserve some credit for great seasons: Kankakee, Richmond-Burton and Morris.
