Cricket league kickstart in Jalandhar: The Tribune India

Additional Income Tax Commissioner Girish Bali and Inspector General of Police GS Dhillon on Thursday called on NGOs to take a proactive role in promoting sport to distract young people from the threat of drugs.
At the meeting after the inauguration of the Jalandhar Heights Cricket Premier League here today, the IT and IGP additional commissioner said that sport acts as a catalyst to harness the energy of the youth in positive direction. They said that the youth are blessed with boundless energy and that it must be channeled in a positive direction. Bali and Dhillon said unequivocally that sport is the best medium through which to motivate the youth in the right direction.
The Additional Commissioner for IT and IGP praised the efforts of the ‘Warrior Groups’ organizing committee to take this groundbreaking initiative and said such efforts should be repeated by other NGOs for the betterment of society.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the NGO Warriors groups Varun Kohli said the tournament was organized by them annually. He said that this year four teams will participate in the tournament, which will be organized on a competitive basis. Kohli also thanked Sukhdev Singh of AGI Infra for providing the necessary logistical assistance to the NGO for the smooth running of the event.
Earlier, the organizing committee of Warrior groups led by Varun Kohli, Rajinder Raja, Ankur Dhuria, Nitin Puri, Davinder Saini, Anudeep Bajaj, Vikas Sharma, Ankur Sehgal, Sanjeev Ahuja and others welcomed the dignitaries to the occasion.
