West Noble Mast chooses Spring Arbor for tennis | Newssun
LIGONIER West Noble senior Joel Mast signed his letter of intent Tuesday to play tennis at Spring Arbor University in Michigan.
The mast originally intended to play at the University of Valparaiso for its university career, but the Crusader sports department abandoned the tennis program. So Mast had to look for a new place if he wanted to continue playing tennis.
I came across Spring Arbor and fell in love with college and the tennis program, said Mast.
Mast appreciated Spring Arbor's investment in its tennis program.
Spring Arbor has incredible facilities. They just built a $ 1.3 million tennis complex a few years ago, said Mast.
He said he felt like he was able to integrate immediately into the tennis program.
I feel like it's going to be good. (Coach Terry Darling) expects a lot from me to go public. I am really looking forward to playing tennis under him and continuing my tennis career, said Mast.
Mast was the 2019 preparation of the KPC Media Group for men's tennis 2019.
His only loss occurred to South Bend Saint Joseph's sophomore, Daniel Pries, in a three-set battle in the Portage Regional final. He finished with a 25-1 record.
Mast was a selection from the first state team of the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association and was named to the team from all districts. He won the Concord Individual Sectional Championship and was the No. 1 champion in the Northeast Corner conference tournament.

The Mast Coach mentioned that he thinks he will succeed at Spring Arbor because Mast is doing everything right.
He has such good hands for tennis. He hits the ball hard, great service, his full game will make a very pleasant transition for him to go to college, said Riegsecker. I'm delighted to see its potential, as it hasn't always been tested as much in high school. I think it has an extremely high potential.
Mast plans to study education during his stay at Spring Arbor and wishes to become a college professor after graduation.
