no. 17 Tigers Continue to Host Homestand No. 7 Florida
AUBURN, Ala. Opening of the last full month of the regular season with a top-25 showdown at Jane B. Moore Field, No. 17 Auburns Softball (28-4, 6-3 SEC) Welcomes No. 7 Florida (28-5, 5-4 SEC) for a three-game run.
“Florida has a great softball tradition,” said head coach Mickey Dean† “They usually have very good pitching. They have a lot of speed on offense. They don’t beat themselves on defense. They’ve been one of the four best teams in the country defensively for the past 12 years. It’s going to be a fight It doesn’t matter from where it’s played. It’s going to be a fight and we’ll be ready.”
The three-game series kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network+. Brit Bowen and former Auburn softball All-American Kasey Cooper will get the call. Saturday is a nationally televised game on the SEC Network with Eric Frede and Madison Shipman. The first pitch is set at 2 p.m. CT. Sunday’s final returns to the SEC Network+ with Bowen and Cooper with a 1:00 p.m. CT start.

- In his second consecutive top-10 battle in the Southeastern Conference game, Auburn is looking to make a five-game losing slip to Florida. Auburn is looking for his first win in the series since 2005.
- 32-for-35 in career stolen base attempts, sophomore Makayla Packer enters the weekend series with a tie for ninth program history for stolen bases over time.
- Turning in one of the best individual pitching performances in school history, Maddie Penta currently ranks in the top five of four Auburn single-season pitching records: strikeouts per seven innings, opponent’s batting average, earned run average, and walks allowed per seven innings.
- Auburn is one of only six programs in the SEC to have a pitching staff combining more than 200 strikeouts this season. Auburn leads the SEC with 290 strikeouts on staff. Auburn is the only two-pitcher program with more than 100 strikeouts to their name. Maddie Penta is second in the SEC with 152 while Shelby Lowe is fourth with 104.
- Auburn’s freshman league brings strength to the plate, hitting 26 of Auburn’s 54 home runs. Three Auburn freshmen hit multiple home runs this season with Bri Ellis leads the attack with 12.
- The Tigers are boxed in at the plate with two outs on the scoreboard. Four of Auburn’s starters have batting averages over .300 with two outs with both Aspyn Godwin and Nelia Peralta leading the way with a .350 mark. Denver Bryant (14) together with freshmen Jessie Blaine (10) both have two-digit two-digit RBI totals, while the team as a whole is good for 63 RBI with two outs.
- At the plate, Auburn has hit 54 home runs in his first 32 games this season. The 50 home runs are the sixth most recorded in a single season at Auburn.
- Auburn has taken its 28th win of the season with a midweek win over Alabama state, surpassing its 2021 total of 27 wins in just 32 games.
- The SEC leader in wins, Maddie Penta ranks third nationally with 17 wins in her sophomore season. Penta only needs two more wins to get into the top 10 for Auburn’s single-season wins by a pitcher.
