James Lattimer admitted fraud at a hearing in November
A fraudster has rigged the membership card of a dead man to use it as a "passport to a prestigious world" and get the best seats at Lord's cricket ground.
In what the judge at Southwark Crown Court described as a "despicable" act, James Lattimer bought the card of a member of the Lord who died in 2014 on Ebay and stuck his own photo on it.
Lattimer, 51, of Bournemouth, was found with the false pass in August.
He admitted the fraud, was fined 10,000 and received a suspended prison sentence.
It costs $ 1,000 to become a member of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), colloquially known as the home of cricket, and there is an annual fee of 600 thereafter.
The court heard that there was a 29-year waiting list with 12,000 names.

Lattimer of Green Road used the fake card to enter an exclusive member area after purchasing a ticket to enter the ground.
Edmund Blackman, prosecutor, said that when police told Lattimer about a separate matter, he appeared to be drunk and the only piece of identification he had on him was the "highly sought after" card. .
The card was in a wallet showing that it was valid for 2013 but it had been folded so that the date was not visible, the court said.
Jonas Milner, representing Lattimer, argued that his client's fraud had been "an unattractive and naive ploy of a cricket fan who let his desperation to find the flag take over".

Justice Michael Grieve QC said that Lattimer, who owns a corporate cleaning business, had been "publicly dishonored".
He told the accused that the use of the identity of a deceased person for any purpose was "despicable".
The judge added: "The false document was your passport to a prestigious world and the best seats on the ground.
"What you earned was much sought after. You have acquired the privilege that people wait for a half life to acquire."
In addition to the fine, he ordered Lattimer to undertake 150 hours of unpaid work and imposed a 10-month suspended prison sentence of 18 months.
