Playoff Preview Colorado Avalanche Nashville Predators Duchene Forsberg
We finally know who the opponent will be and when they will play. It will be the Nashville Predators enter the city after taking a four-goal lead to the Arizona Coyotes last night to send them to the second wildcard spot.
While they had their own destiny in their hands to finish in the first wildcard spot against the Calgary Flames, it wouldn’t end like that. The Yotes completed their third comeback to end the season and their final game at the Gila River Arena in a memorable way.
However, the attackers are not responsible for the loss, as they led 4-0 early in that game. They took the foot off the throttle and couldn’t get anything going at the end of that game. Their attackers are certainly their strong point if they want to upset the Avs. Here’s who to watch out for.
Matt Duchene
Duchene will try to bring out the best in his former squad with whom he had some play-off success in the past. After the infamous trade with the Ottawa Senators and on this side of Predators, Duchene will want to work out the frustration for a team he probably felt let down during the Patrick Roy era.
Duchene was in tears this season, becoming the first 40-goal scorer in franchise history. He scored a total of 43 goals, along with 43 assists for 86 points. Everything in perfect balance, as it should be in his case.
He liked life in Central Tennessee. This is statistically the best year of his career and his third year in Nashville was phenomenal. After a short period with the Columbus blue jacketsDuchene has 62 goals and 89 assists in his three years. He will be a storyline against the Avs in the hope of a disturbance.
Tanner Jeannot
Jeannot’s second year in the league, both with the Predators, was a success. In his first campaign of the season, he scored 24 goals and 17 assists, for a total of 41 points. He has made a solid contribution in the middle six for the Predators.
Against the Avs, he has scored two goals and one assist in four games against them this season. He will be a threat and is an emerging prominent attacker for the Preds. Now in this series would be a good time to make some noise, something the Avs stalwarts will have to pay attention to.
Filip Forsberg
Avs fans know all about Forsberg’s skills and talent. It’s almost like they saw another striker who was now better than the current one on the team. The jokes aside, Forberg has been an eyesore whenever he played them.
This season alone, he is one goal short of Duchene with 42 goals, but he also has an equal number of assists with 42. Hes got 84 points total and will look to add up those point totals in the playoffs.
He has two goals and three assists to his name against Colorado this season. He will always try to pull off something special whenever he can and he is known to do this often. Regardless, he and the rest of the forwards other than Jeannot and Duchene will try to match Avs’ forwards and keep up with the high scores and action.
