Marshfield’s Pat Shea is developing a following via video, podcasting – Sports – The Enterprise, Brockton, MA

Panthers prospect Pat Shea, who started posting videos at the University of Maine, now has the freedom to produce more, different content as he prepares for his first season in hockey.

Pat Shea didn’t stay at Marshfield High school long enough to graduate.

However, he was there long enough to find his second calling.

Shea developed sufficiently as a hockey player – his first calling – over three seasons with the Rams to secure a spot at the Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, New Hampshire, where he bolstered a University of Maine scholarship offer and was drafted by the Florida Panthers (Round 7, No. 192) in 2015. But his experiences with Marshfield Student Broadcasting gave him ideas about what he wanted to do outside and after hockey.

“I took the (broadcasting) class as a junior and I loved it,” said Shea. And Marshfield Student Broadcasting puts on a show every day in the homeroom (Before the Bells), where kids do skits and stuff. I didn’t get it as a senior (he was with KUA at the time), but I still loved doing things like that. ”

Shea still loves it and is still working on it.

While waiting for when and where to start his professional hockey career, Shea has the time and freedom to expand with videos that he started producing and posting as a junior in Maine. A mix of newer comic sketches and workouts and older, everyday stuff from his days in Maine, the Pat Shea YouTube channel has nearly 19,000 subscribers. Shea’s podcast (Behind The Cage), often co-hosted by Black Bears teammate Eduards Tralmaks until Tralmaks had to return home to Latvia when the corona virus pandemic ended the season and closed the Maine campus in Orono, can be found on most podcast platforms, or viewed on his YouTube channel.

“It’s something I’ve always enjoyed,” said Shea. “I have a lot of videos on an old computer of mine that are just messing around, whatever.

“I’ve always dreamed of chasing it, and when I was a junior in Maine, I saw that vlogging had become really popular on YouTube. I saw other college athletes doing it and being successful with it, so I thought,” Okay, I’ve been waiting to get into this, and I have the opportunity as a Div. 1 athlete, so I have to take advantage. ”

Now out of school, Shea can be more creative (spoiler warning: the language can get colorful), and with no certainty about the 2020-21 professional hockey season, except that it is almost guaranteed to start later than usual, he has time to be more productive.

“It was more difficult in the season because I didn’t want to focus too much on hockey,” said Shea. “I had to make (hockey) my priority, so I only did one every few weeks, maybe one in a month. But since the beginning of March, I’ve been doing one pretty much a week. ‘

Shea’s favorite sketch is a fake reality show starring his father, Neil, a Quincy native who played Boston College before starting a long, ongoing career as an NHL scout (ending his 14th season with the Avalanche); older brother, Brandon, who played Canada’s Major Junior level before injuries shortened his career; and younger sister, Rachael.

“I really enjoyed making it,” said Shea. ‘That was fun.’

They’re all fun for Shea, who can now generate some advertising and sales revenue (“Shea Hydrated” T-shirts) because he is no longer covered by NCAA rules. But he is careful about what he produces and places.

“It’s very filtered,” he said. “I would like to fully express my humor, creativity and whatever, but I know that I am a hockey player. I want to play pro hockey. I understand there is a line. I don’t want a team looking at it and thinking I’m just a guy doing stupid things online.

“I promote a healthy lifestyle. I show that I like sports and that I train for hockey. And I also try to have fun with some sketches. ‘

The videos can also prove to be a training ground for a career outside of hockey.

“I was always inspired by YouTubers who would make funny sketches, act,” said Shea. “I’ve always been interested in acting. I never pursued it, but I do want it someday. ‘

What Are The Main Benefits Of Comparing Car Insurance Quotes Online

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 24, 2020, / Compare-autoinsurance.Org has launched a new blog post that presents the main benefits of comparing multiple car insurance quotes. For more info and free online quotes, please visit https://compare-autoinsurance.Org/the-advantages-of-comparing-prices-with-car-insurance-quotes-online/ The modern society has numerous technological advantages. One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
