Mercury Roundup (Aug. 30): Upper Perkiomen Hockey Drops Defending PIAA 2A Champion

Highlights: Upper Perk defeated the reigning PIAA Class 2A champions on Tuesday by goals from Jade Traynor, Regan Fiorito and Jess Traynor, who also had an assist.

Emma Lajeunesse made five saves and Mia Schneider had a defensive save for Upper Perk.

Wilson 4, Spring-Ford 3

Highlights: Mia Riccitelli had two goals, including the game winner, and an assist to lift the Bulldogs over the Rams in non-league play Tuesday.
Nina Scott scored SF’s opener (assisted by Jackie Fissell) before setting up Julia Corropolese’s score. Maddie Friend rounded out the score for Spring-Ford.

Highlights: Dan Baman struck for two goals in the second half to take the Wildcats to a Liberty Division victory over the Vikings in their PAC opener. Baman scored from a scrum from a corner kick on the opener, then added an insurance goal when Baman found a ball lost through the PV backline and took a 20-yard right footed shot that bounced off a defender and shot into the goal.

Highlights: The Tribe scored twice in the first 26 minutes and secured the win with two goals on Tuesday.
Sara Edwards jumped a defensive error before the opener before Sarah Fisher (assisted by Sarah Straup) doubled the number in the 26th minute. Ava Long made two saves in the shutout, the first in her career.

Highlights: PV won in four sets, 23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-22. Lola Coulter had 19 pounds and 13 digs to lead PV, while Naomi Clauhs had 18 kills and nine digs. Freshman Talulah Homolya had seven kills and two blocks.
