The dock school is expanded for millions – by the table tennis club
Fifteen years ago, the municipality of Kramfors wanted to close the Docksta school. It ended with Docksta BTK buying the property that is now being expanded to accommodate more students.
The new extension will be ready around the turn of the year with space for two classrooms and the same number of group rooms. In addition, an elevator is being built to make it easier for people with disabilities to move between floors. In total, the expansion costs an estimated six million.
– Now that the student file and the needs look like this, we have said that we must of course join the school and expand it if necessary. This is a fantastic example of creating future confidence in the entire village, says Hans-Erik Nslund of the owner Docksta BTK.
Lack of preschool places
The school was bought fifteen years ago by Docksta BTK. After a longer rental period during which the municipality rented itself in the building, they chose to form a free school in Docksta. Over the years, the number of children in the area has increased, causing a shortage of mainly pre-school places. Families are instead referred to kindergartens in a different place.
– That shortcoming will no longer exist, says Malin Pettersson, president of the free school.
Ready for the turn of the year
When the spring period starts next year, it is planned that the extension can be taken into use, but possibly earlier.
– We said January 1, but we see that things are going well now, so it may be a month earlier if it continues like this, says Hans-Erik Nslund.
