Zier earns VaSID All-State honors
As the leader of the Hokie block, Zier had 101 total in 2023 with 88 block assists and 13 solo blocks. She averaged 1.03 blocks per set and only nine errors. Offensively, Zier had one of the team’s best batting percentages with a .322. The senior recorded 146 kills, averaging 1.47 per set. She averaged 2.26 points per set and added 21 service aces.
Zier finished the 2023 season ninth in the ACC in batting percentage, as well as 15e in blocks per set. The middle blocker had a season-high 14 kills in the game against Virginia for a season-high 17.5 points. Her season high in blocks was eight in the win over Eastern Michigan.
VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sport champion in both the University and College divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals employed at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
