Duke’s Incoming Recruiting Class ranked No. 25
DURHAM Duke’s incoming men’s tennis recruiting class was listed as the No. 25 class in the nation, according to rankings released byTennisRecruiting.neton Monday.
Alexander Visserforms the acclaimed class following the signing of its National Letter of Intent in November. The Westport, Connecticut native will enroll in August 2023 and join the Blue Devil squad for the 2023-24 season.
To compile the ranking,TennisRecruiting.netasked panelists to vote on the rankings. Each of the panelists submitted his/her opinion on the Top 25 recruiting classes. Schools were awarded 25 points for each 1st place vote, 24 points for each 2nd place vote, down to 1 point for each 25th place vote. The panel members were told not to take into account incoming entrants when voting, nor incoming freshmen who will be participating this spring.
Visser is a Blue Chip prospect who is aTennisRecruiting.netnational ranking of No. 5 in Summer 2022. He is listed as the No. 1 prospect from New England and Connecticut State. Visser also earned a career high TennisRPI national ranking of No. 2 and has a career high UTR rating of 12.92.
He earned his first ATP world ranking point earlier this month at the 15K Futures event in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he advanced through qualifying and won his first round main draw match 6-2, 6-1 against Johnathan Sorbo of Canada.
Visser’s junior career is highlighted by winning the Golden Ball at the 2021 USTA Boys’ 18s National Indoor Championship. He earned the Bronze Ball at the 2021 USTA Boys’ 18s National Spring Championship and finished in seventh place at the USTA National Championships in Kalamazoo . In addition, Visser took second place in the playoffs at his first UTR Pro Tennis Tour event in Charleston, SC
