Hokies stay in good shape at home
SWARTSBURG Virginia Tech women’s tennis earned their second sweep of the season by defeating Richmond on Saturday.
It was a frigid morning outside the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center, but the Hokies were red hot all day. Darya Radulova And Katie Andreini made quick work of their Spider challengers in a 6-0 win. Tamara Barad Itzhaki And Semra Aksu managed on court three, 6-4, to put Tech ahead 1-0.
Eric Cheng scored a double bagel on court five to put the Hokies further forward, 2-0. Freshman Özlem Uslu continued to contribute to an already impressive start to her career with a straight win, 6-2, 6-1. Semra Aksu and Barad Itzhaki joined the side to claim two sets of wins of his own to put Tech in position for their second consecutive sweep.
Darya Radulovapulled out the brooms for the Hokies and pulled off a 10-7 win in the third-set tiebreaker, bringing her singles record to 3-1 this year.

SWARTSBURG Virginia Tech women’s tennis added another victory over a Commonwealth foe, capturing Radford on Saturday night.
The battle for the New River Valley took place in Blacksburg and Terry-Ann Zawacki-Holdrenand Co. added another win to their resume.
Darya Radulova And Katie Andreini secured their second doubles victory of the day, 6-2, partnering with Tamara Barad Itzhaki And Semra Aksu6-3, to produce the double point for the Hokies.
Katie Andreini won 6-2, 6-0 in a match where she seemed to gain confidence with every match. In her first game on the first court, Özlem Uslu looks like a veteran taking out her Highlander foe 6-1, 6-1. The deciding point for the Hokies came on court three, where Barad Itzhaki added her fifth win of the season, 6-3, 6-2.
Eric Cheng ended the day with only two games against a total of four singles matches played in a 6-0, 6-2 victory. In her first singles promotion this spring, Charlotte Cartledge dominated in a 6-2, 6-1 win.
Sabina Richtrovafollowed suit in her own singles debut with a hard-fought 3-6, 6-1.1-0 win to put the Hokies up 5-0 and claim their third consecutive sweep.
