Redbirds drop Doubleheader in Arkansas on Sunday
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. The Illinois State men’s tennis team ended its weekend in Arkansas with a pair of games on Sunday against the Arkansas Razorbacks, who were strong at home and racked up a pair of 4-0 wins over the Redbirds at Billingsley Tennis Center.
The Razorbacks took the double in both games and then wrapped things up with three singles wins. In match one, Arvid Halte took the first set in his second-place singles match, but it was ultimately left unfinished as the Razorbacks clinched victory. It was much the same in game two as the Redbirds fought hard but eventually fell in straight sets in each of the singles matches.
The Redbirds return home to action next Sunday, when they host Bellarmine at 10 a.m. at the Evergreen Racquet Club.
