Boaz named pitcher of the week in the Patriot League
BETHLEHEM, Pa. After shutting out Fairfield with a career-high 10 strikeouts, Boston University softball senior Allison Boaz was named Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, the convention bureau announced Tuesday afternoon.
The award marks BU’s fourth in the circle this year and Boaz earns her second after freshman Casey Ricard previously claimed two awards. Boaz now owns a total of seven and ranks fifth in a conference’s record book for weekly pitching awards.
Boaz went the distance against the Stags in a game where BU scored three runs in the first six innings before retiring in the seventh with another six runs. Boaz’s 10 strikeouts six times surpassed her previous record of seven sets, including against Charleston and Illinois State this season.
The reigning PL Pitcher of the Year earned her 37th career win (t-10th at BU) and 15th overall shutout (8th best).
The announcement came just as BU and Yale went into a doubleheader. The Terriers take the field again on Wednesday with two games at Merrimack starting at 2 p.m
