Women’s Tennis Bounce Back against Oneonta
ITHACA, NY The Ithaca College women’s tennis team defeated SUNY Oneonta 72. The Bombers bounced back after losses in each of the previous three games, taking major wins in doubles and four of six in singles.
Each of the Bombers’ three doubles teams won their games by wide margins. At the number 1 spot, Rebecca Andrew And Zoe Davis defeated Julia Holtermann and Maxie Karen 81. At number 3, Kayla Shenk And Sarah Kohberger shutting out their opponents for an 80 victory. Taylor Crane And Caroline Hertz completed the doublesweep at No. 2 with a win of 82.
At No. 1 singles, Crain defeated Holtermann 60 and 62 to claim the Bombers’ first singles victory. The Red Dragons previously got two games back Sabrina Chung took the team victory, taking 64 in both sets to beat Brianna Shaw in a great match.
Herz and Kohberger took the last two wins of the day over the numbers 5 and 6. Kohberger recovered with a big win in the second set to force a third set, taking 107 in a thrilling match. Herz dominated her opponent with 60 and 61 wins in both sets.
Going 5-5 this season, the Bombers travel to Union College at 11 a.m. Saturday for a game.
