Softball eliminated in series-opener by Princeton, 7-0
PHILADELPHIA The softball team of the University of Pennsylvania dropped its series-opener against Princeton on Friday-afternoon. The Tigers used a five-run first inning to pull off a 7–0 victory. The Quakers rallied to load the bases with no outs in the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to push any runs over the plate.

The Tigers came swinging out of the gate as they took a 5-0 lead after the first inning on four hits, including three doubles. Princeton added a single run in the third inning on a basesloaded walk, then took a 7-0 lead on a solo left-footed shot.
After entering the second inning, Kelly Zybura limited Princeton to just a few runs in the last six innings. In six innings of work, she allowed two runs on seven hits while walking four batters and striking out two.
The Quakers scored only one hit and four walks in the first six innings. Penn appeared to make noise in its final at bat, loading the bases with no outs on a Delaney Smith single to center, a walk-by Kate ReaganAnd Alyssa Pope reach on an error. After striking out for the first out, the Tigers caused a double play to end the game.
