World number five Stefanos Tsitsipas drinks red wine, chews baguettes and smiles a lot in Paris, hoping it will lead to success at the French Open, he said on Sunday.
The Greek, known for his occasional outbursts during matches, even targeting his own team, said he was a big admirer of top seed Carlos Alcaraz’s sunny approach to play.
Alcaraz, aged 20, is four years younger than Tsitsipas, but the Greek said it was the Spaniard’s constant smile and charisma that he found impressive.
Red wine and baguettes, said Tsitsipas, a finalist in Paris in 2021, when asked about his plan to go deep into the tournament. Lots of red wine and baguette would help to do well in Paris.
But his biggest change in Paris will be his attitude.
I recently had a practice session with Carlitos (Alcaraz) and randomly threw in a thank you, and I don’t know if he understood that or not, said Tsitsipas, chasing his first Grand Slam title.
I owe a lot to Carlitos because he is such a breath of fresh air. That contributed to his growth as a tennis player. I kind of admire him for who he is, Tsitsipas said.
Alcaraz took the tennis world by storm as a teenager in 2022, winning the US Open title and claiming the number one spot.
He seems to enjoy it, having fun. I have the ability to be that person. I really believe it, said Tsitsipas, who battled past Jiri Vesely in four sets to advance to the second round.
That’s the reason I’m much happier and happier playing this sport, thanks to him.
His comments come a week after his latest outburst, when he cursed his mother and told her to shut up during a switch in his Italian Open semifinal defeat to Daniil Medvedev.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
