The Santa Fe Christians tennis team is supporting their opponents with the 'Brotherly Court Connection' initiative
The Santa Fe Christian Schools men's varsity tennis team recently presented a unique community service project called Brotherly Court Connection. The idea came during a game with Valley Center High School earlier this season, when the team noticed one of their players was playing in Crocs shoes, another was playing in the coach's shoes, many had worn-out equipment and they had no snacks or drinks. according to an SFC news report.
The boys and parents of SFC donated eleven new pairs of shoes, athletic socks, six pairs of gently used shoes, rackets, tennis bags and new backpacks for each boy, along with a cooler full of Gatorade, water and a table of snacks. A round-robin tournament format brought the players together with their own, adding to the community. The trophy went to the school with the most wins, with Valley Center High School beating SFC by one game. Prizes were also awarded to the top three finishers from each school. All smiles made for a successful event that allowed SFC to take their fellow competitors to the next level.
All of our sports teams have embraced the opportunity to selflessly stand with others outside our community, SFC athletic director Doug Miller said in the news release. Our intentional efforts to provide regular community service through sports teams during the season have such a profound impact on our players, families, and others outside of our school.
