CAA has honored three players on the NCBWA All-America Baseball Team
RICHMOND, Va. (June 12, 2024) Three CAA baseball standouts were honored as third-team All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) on Wednesday.
Chosen for the team were UNCW second basemen Tanner ThachCampbell senior outfielder Lawson Harrill and William & Mary junior pitcher Nate Knowles.
Thach, the CAA co-player of the year, hit .324 and set a CAA single-season record with 27 home runs this season. He drove in a team-high 75 runs and scored 59 for a Seahawks squad that won 40 games and captured their second straight CAA championship.
Harrill, a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, led the Camels in nearly every offensive category this season. He batted .351 and recorded team highs in runs (67), doubles (17), home runs (23) and RBIs (56). Harrill, a second-team NCBWA All-American in 2023, owns Campbell's career homers record with 51.
Knowles, the CAA Pitcher of the Year, posted an 8-3 record with a 2.48 ERA, leading the league and ranking ninth nationally. He topped the conference and was ranked 21stst in Division I with 112 strikeouts in 80.0 innings and he held opponents to a .178 batting average, which was the highest in the CAA.
