East Carolina earns ITA Carolina Region Community Service Award
GREENVILLE, NC The East Carolina women's tennis team has been named the recipient of the 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Carolina Region Community Service Award, according to an announcement from the organization.
This academic year, the team completed 420 hours of community service in and around Pitt County. Alisha Hussain was also nominated as a finalist for the Ann Lebedeff Leadership Award as an influential contributor to his or her college campus and community. She has completed at least 25 hours of community service each semester by serving as a mentor to children, making hospital visits and volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House.
The Pirates finished the 2024 spring dual season at 11-8, the best record for the program since the 2018-19 season. Off the field, the team posted a 3.86 grade point average during the spring semester, the highest in program history and the best mark of any ECU squad. Four players achieved a 4.0 GPA, while four others earned a spot on the Dean's List and one received Honor Roll recognition.
