More than $1 million generated during the tournament in Tulsa
TULSA, OK, what happens when you combine the sportsmanship of soccer with the coordination of table tennis and add the marketability of pickleball?

After Titan Sports Complex Downtown Tulsa hosted most of the World Series tournament in doubles, bringing the finals to 6th Street and Boston on June 16.
Tulsan Sage Flower told 2 News he gets a kick out of the free event and brought his daughters along for Father's Day.
“I grew up playing soccer and volleyball and I heard about (Teqball) online and just thought it was cool,” Flower said. “It's hot, but it's exciting.”
Tulsa Sports Commission National Sports Sales Manager Alexander Brown said he knew the sport's world championships had potential in T-Town.
“I have been with TSC for about a year now and my biggest goal has been to establish Tulsa as a global sports destination,” Brown told 2 News. And this really caught my attention. It's just a very unique sport. So much went into it and I wanted to be part of its growth.”
Local entrepreneurs also participated in the campaign.
“It's great for local businesses,” Brown said. “It's just a win-win situation for us. Another great visibility to position ourselves globally.”
Owner Catalina Sanchez of Roppongi Ramen said she is usually closed on Sundays, but couldn't resist serving just a few feet away from the Teqball tableware.
“We're going to try to do more promotions next year so we can get even more people because this was the first time and we didn't know it would be such a big opportunity,” Sánchez said.
Officials told 2 News that Teqball weekend generated $1.2 million in economic impact on Green Country.
“In the future, businesses will expect this and hopefully we can all grow with it, businesses and with the Chamber (of Commerce) and the sports commission,” Brown said. “Hopefully together we can grow the sport and our businesses as well.”
TSC said it hopes to bring the tournament back in coming years, while Teqball also seeks to be considered an Olympic sport by Los Angeles in 2028.
