Former head football coach Les Miles files lawsuit against LSU
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Former head football coach Les Miles has filed a lawsuit against LSU, claiming the school's decision to forfeit wins cost him the chance to qualify for the College Football Hall of Fame.
ESPN's Adam Rittenberg first reported the lawsuit.
LSU posted 37 wins while Miles was the head coach. That cut Miles' official career record from 145-73 (.665) to 108-73 (.597). Miles no longer meets the .600 career winning percentage needed to qualify for the College Football Hall of Fame.
The wins were from 2012-2015. It stemmed from an NCAA ruling regarding improper payouts to former player Vadal Alexander.
Miles was the head coach at LSU from 2005 to 2016. He won a national title with the Tigers in 2007.
In a press release sent to Rittenberg, he called it an irrational and unfair self-imposed punishment.
Miles also included the NCAA and the National Football Foundation as defendants.
Miles has been out of coaching since 2021. His last job was at Kansas. The school parted ways with Miles following allegations of sexual misconduct while at LSU.
