Fantasy football penalties lead to hours at McDonald's
Fantasy football can provide positive experiences for those who participate. That is, unless you finish last in a competition, where your punishment could be 24 hours in a McDonald's unless you eat your way out.
That's what Joe DeLeone had to go through on Friday.
DeLeone had simple rules to follow: spend 24 hours in a McDonald's with specific food items, limiting the time he would have to spend at the fast food restaurant.
I finished last in fantasy football and tomorrow I have to take my punishment.

One of DeLeone's friends put together the spreadsheet that assigned a time to each item. A Big Mac would subtract 45 minutes, while a Big Breakfast with hot sandwiches would add two hours. Conversely, spending time in the ball pit at the PlayPlace would subtract five minutes.
DeLeone opted for a specific strategy, limiting himself to about 6,000 calories with an hour to go at McDonald's. Here are some highlights of his trip, which he documented at X (times in PST):
10:41 am DeLeone made it clear in his first video. He wasn't here to mess around.
“I'm getting out of here as soon as I can,” he said. “I'm not hanging around here.”
That process started with two Big Breakfasts, including a biscuit, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and sausage for 760 calories per serving. DeLeone also added 17 potato wedges, which, when done, would subtract seven hours.

11am Confidence was high after the second Big Breakfast, although the potato wedges were still untouched.

12:11 pm Speaking of those potato wedges, DeLeone acknowledged that they were “a trap.” He also explained that it was a mistake to order them all at once.

2:01 PM After originally ordering 10 apples, DeLeone went back for another 10 apples. Five minutes were deducted from each apple slice, but most importantly they were 'lightweight' and provided balance with the other items he ate. They also became an effective strategy to reduce time.
At that point, DeLeone said his goal was to leave by 5:30 p.m. and mapped out his next meals.

3:58 PM Three orders from McChickens meant there were only three hours left for his sentence. DeLeone expressed confidence that he would be cleared soon, calling the challenge “light work.”
“We're about to get in and out of here,” he said.

4:12 pm There's nothing like cashing in on the points you've earned on a food app. DeLeone racked up almost 10,000 points on the McDonald's app — almost enough to get a free Big Mac or Quarter Pounder with cheese.

5:57 PM A final McChicken and three apple slices finally put the challenge to rest. Eight hours later, DeLeone emerged victorious, defeating 16 hours. His final meal count was two Big Breakfasts, 17 potato wedges, four McChickens and 23 apple slices.
He said his brain was fried and he felt terrible, but acknowledged that the challenge was still “a lot of fun.”
“It was just cool to see everyone supporting this because it's just a fun thing to do in the offseason,” DeLeone said.
It's finally over, I'll never go to McDonald's again pic.twitter.com/4pztMBudMa
