Tennis Recruiting Network ranks the 2024 class No. 12
The Grand Canyon 2024 men's tennis recruiting class was ranked 12th among men's mid-major classes by Tennis Recruiting Network.
GCU makes its program debut in the Tennis Recruiting Network recruiting ranks behind No. 11 Santa Clara and ahead of No. 13 Georgia Southern and No. 14 Liberty.
The Tennis Recruiting Network cited two incoming freshmen, 17-year-old junior star Andreas Loizas of Greece and 18-year-old Finbar McGarvey of Great Britain, as the reason for the rankings. Lozias boasts a No. 157 International Tennis Federation Ranking and a 12.15 Universal Tennis Rating, while McGarvey has a No. 492 ITF Ranking and an 11.43 UTR.
The ITF is the global tennis governing body. With more than 200 member countries, it is one of the largest federations in world sport, while the UTR is the global tennis player rating system intended to produce an objective, consistent and accurate index of players' skills in the game of tennis. UTR rates all players on a single 16-point scale, regardless of age, gender, nationality or location of a particular match.
These 25 ranked teams represent 13 conferences and 12 states, with the majority of teams coming from California.
The West Coast Conference, which GCU will join at the end of the 2025 season, ranked second with four top-25 classes: Pepperdine (No. 1), San Diego (No. 2), Santa Clara (No. 11). ), and Pacific (No. 24).
Division I mid-major conferences for tennis include programs from the WAC, AAC, Atlantic 10, Atlantic Sun, Big East, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, CAA, C-USA, Horizon, MAAC, MAC, MEAC, Mountain West , Northeast, OVC, Patriot, SoCon, Southland, SWAC, Summit, Sun Belt and WCC.
