Women's soccer announces their 2024 season schedule
MIAMI The FIU Women's Soccer team announced its 2024 schedule Thursday, highlighted by two Power Five schools in Oklahoma and the University of Miami, as well as five in-state rivals.
To culminate the 2024 season, FIU will host the Conference USA Tournament from November 6-10, where the Panthers will attempt to lift the championship trophy for the first time in program history.
The Panthers' first seven games of the year will be on the road, opening the season against 2023 NCAA Tournament participant Florida Gulf Coast University. They will travel on to Oklahoma, where they will play the Sooners for the first time in program history, before returning to the Sunshine State to take on Florida Atlantic, Jacksonville, Stetson and University of Miami, all away games.
FIU's first home games of the season will be played against a pair of first-time opponents at Southeast Louisiana University on September 7 at 10 a.m., followed by Southeast Missouri State on September 12 at 7 p.m.
The Panthers will open their conference play against Middle Tennessee before traveling to Lynchburg, Virginia to play 2023 CUSA Champions, Liberty University.
FIU's first home game of conference play will take place on Oct. 3 against the 2023 CUSA Tournament runner-up New Mexico State Aggies, who finished the 2023 regular season atop the standings with an overall record of 10-6-3 and 6 -0-2 report of the conference. The Panthers will then host the University of Texas – El Paso on Oct. 6 at 1 p.m
FIU will once again hit the road for three straight games, first to Louisiana Tech before heading to Sam Houston, ending their road trip at CUSA's newest member, Kennesaw State.
The Panthers end the regular season with a two-game homestand, first playing Western Kentucky, which finished third in the conference last season, one ahead of FIU. The Panthers' final game of the 2024 regular season will come against Jacksonville State, wrapping up their ninth and final conference game before the conference tournament.
Conference USA will only become more competitive in the coming years, welcoming Missouri State and University of Delaware for the 2025 season after adding Kennesaw State this season.
