Women's soccer announces 2024 schedule
GROENSBORO, NC UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer head coach Stefani Werkman has announced the team's 2024 schedule.
The 2024 season schedule is highlighted by three opponents who have earned automatic bids to the 2023 NCAA Tournament, including Colorado, Liberty and Western Carolina. This will be the first meeting with Colorado in program history, kicking off a two-game series beginning with a home game on Thursday, August 29 at UNCG Soccer Stadium at 7:00 PM and returning to Boulder, Colorado in August 2025.

The non-conference slate has a strong emphasis on the state with a unique challenge in hosting Big 12 opponent Colorado, which will test our girls in preparation for the grueling Southern Conference (SoCon) schedule. to push our team to ensure they deliver a top performance on their way to a championship.”

- The Spartans will compete in three exhibition games, two at home and one away, prior to the regular season. UNCG opens the campaign as host to UNC Asheville on August 7 at 6 p.m. They then travel to Richmond for a 5.30pm kick-off on August 11 before returning home for a final friendly against Barton College on August 14. at 6 p.m
- Non-conference regular season schedule breakdown: American (2), CAA (2), Big 12 (1), Big South (1), CUSA (1), Sun Belt (1)
- In total, the Spartans will face three teams that have earned a bid to the 2023 NCAA Tournament; Colorado, Liberty and Western Carolina. The Catamount earned an automatic bid to the tournament by claiming the 2023 SoCon Tournament title.
- UNCG opens the regular season on the road with games at UNC Wilmington on August 18 at 7:00 PM and East Carolina on August 22 at 7:00 PM
- The Spartans open their home game against Colorado on Thursday, August 29 at 7 p.m
- UNCG will play nine conference games, five on the road and four at home.
- The Spartans open their SoCon schedule on September 19 versus VMI in Lexington, Virginia, at 4 p.m.
- UNCG concludes regular season action on Oct. 27 with a SoCon final in Samford, with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m. in Birmingham, Alabama.
- The 2024 SoCon Tournament begins with the first round on October 29, then the quarterfinals on November 1, the semifinals on November 3 and the championship on November 10. Locations and start times for the matches have yet to be determined.
