Gauff and Fritz will lead the U.S. tennis team for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris
High ranking Americans Coco Gauff And Taylor Fritz will lead the U.S. tennis team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris this summer, the USTA announced.
Gauff makes her debut at the Paris Games after having to withdraw from the 2020 Tokyo Games due to COVID-19. Joining Gauff on the women's side is Jessica Pegula, Danielle Collins, Emma Navarro And Desirae Krawczyk. Gauff and Pegula will play doubles together, and Navarro will team with Krawczyk for doubles. Krawczyk won the first of her four Grand Slam mixed doubles titles in Paris three years ago. The team is coached by Kathy Rinaldi, head of women's tennis for the USTA.
The Paris Games will be Fritz's Olympic debut. Fritz is joined in the men's team by Tommy Paul, Chris Eubanks And Marcos Giron for the singles event. Doubles specialists Rajeev Ram And Austin Krajicek are part of the selection and will compete in doubles, just like Fritz and Paul. The men are coached by Bob Bryan, the 2012 Olympic doubles gold medalist.
The US has captured 14 gold medals in Olympic tennis and will look to add to its collection this summer.
The mixed doubles team will be drawn from the qualified players and named at a later date according to the USTA.
The 2024 Olympic tennis tournament starts on July 27.
