. – The Penn State women's hockey program announced its 34-game schedule for the 2024-2025 season on Friday morning.
The Nittany Lions, who are earning their second straight AHA Tournament title, will play a challenging non-conference slate featuring six NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago, including rematches with Cornell and UConn along the way.
Penn State will participate in three regular season tournaments this season, starting with the Ice Breaker Tournament in Columbus, Ohio, while Penn State, Ohio State, Stonehill and Cornell will all go head-to-head starting Friday, October 25 against Cornell.
The two winners of the opening matches will compete for the title on Saturday, October 26, after the consolation match that was played between the losing teams earlier in the day. All games will be played in downtown Columbus at the OhioHealth Ice Haus, the practice home of the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League.
Penn State will also participate in the annual Smashville tournament at the Ford Ice Center, owned by the NHL's Nashville Predators. The Nittany Lions will meet Merrimack in the first round of the tournament on Friday, November 29, followed by the winner or loser of the Clarkson-St. Thomas game on Saturday, November 30.
The final regular season tournament will be held at Ritter Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during the annual East West Showcase, beginning on Friday, January 3 against Bemidji State. The Nittany Lions close out the trip the next day against the host Gophers.
Penn State will play 20 games against Atlantic Hockey America foes Robert Morris, Mercyhurst, RIT, Syracuse and Lindenwood, with 12 straight games to close out the regular season.
The 2025 AHA postseason begins on Saturday, February 22 with the one-game quarterfinals. After the quarterfinals between the six and three and five and four seeds, the AHA semifinals will take place from February 28 to March 2. the lowest remaining seed will face the tournament's number one seed, as well as the second-lowest remaining seed will face the number two seed. The AHA Championship match will take place on Saturday, March 8, with the highest remaining seed playing host.
