Azarenka advances in Berlin after Rybakina retires; rain stops the game
Victoria Azarenka was the only player to advance to the semifinals of the ecotrans Ladies Open on Friday. She continued after No. 3 seed Elena Rybakina retired due to stomach pain and trailed 3–1 in the first set. The result puts the former world number 1 in her first grass-court semi-final since Berlin 2021.

No. 4 Jessica Pegula led qualifier Katerina Siniakova 7-6(2), 3-6, 4-2 in the second quarterfinal of the day before rain interrupted play for the day. The remaining two quarterfinals – No. 1 seed Coco Gauff against No. 8 seed Ons Jabeur and No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka against Anna Kalinskaya – did not take the court.
Saturday's order of play starts at 11:30 a.m., with Gauff and Jabeur starting at the Steffi Graf Stadium, while Sabalenka and Kalinskaya play simultaneously on Court 1. Pegula and Siniakova resume after Gauff and Jabeur, followed by the two semi-finals: Azarenka vs. Sabalenka. or Kalinskaya, then the winner of Gauff/Jabeur against the winner of Pegula/Siniakova.
Pegula, lining up for the first grass court semi-final of her career, began to pull away from Siniakova after the Czech slipped while jumping up for a lob in the first game of the decider.
