Hockey announces full schedule for 2024-2025
KALAMAZOO, Mich. The Western Michigan hockey program announced its 2024-25 non-conference schedule this afternoon, which includes six games at Lawson Arena and 10 at Michigan State.
The Broncos went undefeated in non-conference play last season, outscoring their opponents by a 45-17 margin. below Pat FerschweilerWMU is 25-5-1 against non-NCHC foes in the regular season.
To start the season, Western Michigan will play a home game against the US National Under-18 Team on October 5. WMU defeated the USNTDP 9-4 last season.
The regular season begins on October 11 with a home game against Ferris State. The Broncos next travel to Big Rapids to close out the series on October 12. The following week, the Brown and Gold host Bowling Green for one game at Lawson Arena. That is scheduled for October 17.
Next up is a trip to Boston College for the first ever meeting between the Eagles and the Broncos. That match is scheduled for October 26 in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
After some NCHC games, the Broncos will take on in-state rival Michigan over Thanksgiving weekend. WMU will host the Wolverines on Nov. 29 and travel to Ann Arbor on Nov. 30.
WMU then returns to the Great Lakes Invitational on December 29-30. The Broncos won the GLI in their last outing in 2022, outscoring those opponents 16-3. This year's field consists of WMU, Michigan State, Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech. Western Michigan opens with MTU.
To conclude its non-conference schedule, Western Michigan will host Alaska Anchorage on Jan. 3 and 4. The two teams last met to open the 2022-2023 season.
The Broncos are finalizing another home exhibition game that will be announced at a later date.
