Indian table tennis star Sreeja Akula continues to climb the rankings as she reached number 24 in the women's singles charts on Tuesday.
Akula rose 19 places in the world rankings after winning the World Table Tennis Contender title in Lagos on Sunday. At the same event, Akula had also teamed up with Archana Kamath to claim the women's doubles title.

With the doubles victory, the duo rose 109 places and moved to 44th position in the rankings.
The 25-year-old from Hyderabad, who had won two WTT Feeder events in Corpus Christi, United States and Beirut, Lebanon earlier this year, has also become the highest-ranked Indian singles player for the second time after overtaking Manika Batra, who now dropped to 29th position.
Akula has also equaled the world No. 24 ranking achieved by Batra and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, in men's singles, as the highest singles ranking ever achieved by an Indian rower.
In the men's singles, veteran Achanta Sharath leads Kamal at world number 39, followed by Manav Thakkar at 59 and Sathiyan at 68. Harmeet Desai, meanwhile, is ranked 84th.
Desai had teamed up with Thakkar in Lagos to win the men's doubles title, which saw them jump 385 places in the rankings to become the world's No. 45 team. However, Thakkar is ranked 13th in men's doubles with Manush Shah.
