Fencing earns 38 spots on USFCA All-Academic Teams
PHILADELPHIA The United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) announced the 2024 NCAA Fencing Academic Awards on Wednesday night, with 38 student-athletes from the University of Pennsylvania men's and women's fencing programs earning the prestigious honor.
The USFCA recognizes individual student-athletes and teams based on their combined fall and spring semester GPAs. The USFCA All-Academic Team is comprised of 536 student-athletes, of which 326 are recognized as Scholars of Distinction. All-Academic Team Honors have been presented to those student-athletes at affiliated institutions who had a season GPA of 3.3 or higher. Scholar of Distinction Award have been presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had a season GPA of 3.7 or higher.
The women topped Penn, posting the second-highest team GPA among women's programs with a score of 3.815, while the men finished fourth in the USFCA with a score of 3.581. Both programs were the highest of all Ivies nominees.
