Why Oregon Football 5-Star Target Committed to Kansas State Over Ducks
The Oregon Ducks have accomplished a historic feat in recruiting over the past month.
In the past month alone, the Ducks have made a total of seven commitments, four of which — including two five-star prospects — came in the past week.
The Ducks had a chance to make it 3-0 on Monday when five-star tight end Linkon Cure of Goodland (KS) announced his decision via a 247Sports livestream.
Unfortunately for the Ducks, it wasn't meant to be this time around, as Cure announced his commitment to the Kansas State Wildcats. Why?
I love everything about it [Kansas State],” Cure told On3. “The biggest thing is the culture and the presence of the program. That's definitely something I've noticed, guys that I'll always be around if I choose Kansas State. I thought that was really important. The leadership there and the coaching staff is great. I really love everything about Kansas State. I love what coach Chris Klieman has done there. There's a lot of guys there that I respect and it's a great place to be.
Cure's decision came after a series of official visits to Kansas on May 31, Texas A&M on June 7, Oregon on June 16 and Kansas State on June 21.
And as for his healing, those visits made his choice very difficult.
The year was an absolute rollercoaster, Cure told On3 last month. It didn’t go the way I thought it would. I had a lot of mixed feelings throughout the whole process because of some coaching changes and stuff like that. It was a crazy process, but I enjoyed it. I stayed true to my process and took it all in. I took those four OVs and the decision was a lot harder than I expected, but I’m pretty settled on what I see in those schools, what I want and what I can be.
Cure is rated as a five-star recruit and is the 27th best player in the nation, the 2nd best tight end and the 2nd best player in Kansas according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
