Six NSW players in Australia Blind & Low Vision Ashes Squad
Six NSW players have been announced by Cricket Australia (CA) as part of this year’s Australian Blind and Visually Impaired Team, including star players Oscar Stubbs and Steffan Nero. The 22-player squad will play the upcoming Ashes series in Queensland from 17-26 November.

In addition to Stubbs and Nero, who have been part of the national side for a number of years, the list includes NSW players Matt Cameron, Stephen Palmer, Shaun Fitzpatrick and Lincoln Muddle. The players were part of the NSW team that won a fifth consecutive title at the National Inclusion Cricket Championship in January this year, with Stubbs and Cameron’s 250 run not out partnership taking home the trophy.
This is Muddle's first spell in the Australian squad. The promising new player started his cricket career about a year ago and has already made great strides.
CA also announced the national deaf and hard of hearing and intellectual disability teams. Five NSW players, including regulars Andrew Park and Rodney Baker, are in the national deaf and hard of hearing team. The other players are Harry Bell, Lewis Beard and Austin Philip, who all played in the second NSW team at this year’s NICC, which went down to Victoria in the final despite a great five-wicket haul by Baker.
Dan McEwen is the only NSW player nominated for the national intellectual disability squad. Players from these squads will attend the national training camp in Queensland in November 2024.
