Court of Arbitration for Sport dismisses anti-doping appeal by American tennis player Sydney Dorcil
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed the appeal of American tennis player Sydney Dorcil against a Tennis Anti-Doping Programme (TADP) sanction imposed on her in July 2023.
An appeal hearing was held via videoconference on 15 and 16 February 2024, after which the CAS Court upheld the four-year suspension under the TADP imposed by the independent trial court convened by Sport Resolutions.
Dorcil, who reached a personal best in the world singles rankings at 1255 in 2023, tested positive for the banned substance boldenone and its metabolites in November 2022 following an in-competition test. The CAS tribunal ruled that Dorcil had failed to prove that the anti-doping rule violation was unintentional.
Dorcil's period of ineligibility remains unchanged and will begin on January 13, 2023, the date of their provisional suspension, and end at midnight on January 12, 2027.
During the period of ineligibility, Dorcil is prohibited from participating in or taking part in any tennis event authorized or approved by the members of the ITIA (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, Fdration Française de Tennis, Wimbledon and USTA) or any national association.
The ITIA is an independent body established by its tennis members to promote, encourage, improve and protect the integrity of professional tennis worldwide.
