Hurricane Beryl delays Indian cricket team's departure from Barbados | News

The departure of the T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team from the Caribbean island has been delayed as the charter flight is yet to arrive here.
A special charter flight by Air India named AIC24WC (Air India Champions 24 World Cup) will bring back the Indian team, support staff, players’ families, some board members and Indian media, who were stranded for the past three days due to Cyclone Beryl.
The Rohit Sharma-led team won the title after registering a thrilling 7-run victory over South Africa in the final on Saturday.
The plane departed from New Jersey, US, on July 2 and is expected to land in Barbados around 2am local time.
The flight is now scheduled to depart from Barbados at 4:30 am (local time). It will take 16 hours to reach Delhi, where the team will land at 6 am (IST) on Thursday if there are no further delays to their departure.
The Grantley Adams International Airport resumed operations on Tuesday. Earlier, the Indian team was scheduled to depart around 6pm local time on July 2 and arrive at 7.45pm (IST) on Wednesday.
The players will be congratulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but the schedule for that event has not yet been finalised.
Hurricane Beryl has now strengthened to a Category 4 storm, downgraded from a Category 5, and is heading towards Jamaica.
