Volleyball Unveils 2024 Slate – Villanova University
VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania. Immediately after the program's very first foreign tour, head coach Josh Steinbach Villanova Volleyball unveiled its 2024 schedule on Wednesday, featuring 29 games, four non-conference tournaments and 18 league games the Wildcats must play to reach the BIG EAST tournament for the second straight year.
The campaign begins with a reprise of last year’s Catholic Challenge, this time in California, at home in Santa Clara. VU will take on the host Broncos and Notre Dame before the home schedule begins with a midweek matchup against Binghamton on September 4.
The Wildcats next host the Villanova Classic, which brings Loyola Maryland, Old Dominion and Princeton to Jake Nevin Field House. There are six games total, plus three games against Villanova, scheduled for Sept. 6-8.
VU then travels to Connecticut for games at Yale and Fairfield. There is also a neutral-site game against Colgate on the program.
A tournament on the Main Line wraps up the non-conference schedule on Sept. 20-21, with Villanova taking on Temple and then, depending on Friday's results, either Rhode Island or Marist.
The BIG EAST tournament begins the last weekend of September when the 'Cats host Georgetown to open the conference schedule, then travel to Seton Hall the following day.
Villanova then heads to the Midwest with trips to DePaul and Xavier in early October before hosting two teams from the 2023 NCAA Tournament in Creighton (Oct. 11) and Marquette (Oct. 13).
A trip to New England awaits the 'Cats after that home weekend with games at UConn and Providence. It's an odd week to follow that up with a Wednesday trip to Queens for a St. John's game before a Saturday home game against Butler.
The final multi-game road trip takes place the first week of November, with trips to Marquette and Creighton.
The Wildcats will close out their 2024 regular season with five home games of the final six. They will play Xavier, DePaul, St. John's, Providence and Connecticut from Nov. 8-23. The lone away game will be in Butler on Nov. 16.
This year's BIG EAST Championship is hosted by the Creighton Bluejays. The top six players in the league will travel to Omaha for three days, November 27-30.
