Ewedoos Tennis Dress Amazon Review

I am always looking for clothes that combine fashion with functionality. As a mother of a 2 year old son, I am continual moving around. So while I like to look chic every time I step out the door, always comfortable. That's why you'll usually find me in summer dresses or athleisure wear. But when I saw this cute tennis dress on Amazon, I thought it could give me the best of both worlds.

There are several colorful styles to choose from including a baby blue, flamingo pink and a lavender option that are sure to add an extra touch oof to your summer wardrobe. With five-star reviews from over 4,000 shoppers, I knew I had to try this tennis dress and see if it passed my mom-clothing test.

Why I like this dress

The fabric is stretchy and soft

What immediately stood out to me was the stretchy, moisture-wicking fabric. Not only is it extremely soft against the skin, but it also doesn’t cling to my body like thicker materials do when you sweat in the summer heat. Breathable fabric is also a huge plus when you’re carrying a toddler. Plus, I liked that I didn’t have to worry about my son accidentally spilling water on me during outings, since the material is designed to wick away moisture.

The only thing to keep in mind is that the fabric is thin. While the color of your underwear won’t necessarily show through the dress (I wore the baby blue tennis dress with black underwear to make sure!), the shape and design will. You could see the outline of my underwear, as well as the seams along the waistband. So I would suggest wearing seamless briefs or shapewear underneath.

It's surprisingly supportive

Another detail I like about the tennis dress is the adjustable crossover straps. This small but powerful design element gives me extra support up top and some shape. And, as some customers have noted in their reviews, this is useful when breastfeeding, as you can easily undo the straps to let the top drop while feeding.

Style-wise, I love that this tennis dress has an A-line silhouette because it doesn’t look too sporty. You can easily throw a denim jacket over it or wrap a sweater around your shoulders for a more elevated look. And with the right accessories, it becomes a versatile piece that can go from day to night.

It is functional

The dress also has built-in shorts with pockets. While I think this feature is unnecessary (I won’t be putting anything in the pockets because I don’t like the bulk it creates on the sides), it’s there for anyone who appreciates the extra storage for your phone or wallet. The shorts also aren’t as compressible as I’d like, so they tend to bunch up as I walk.

What to look out for

Contrary to the Amazon listing, which describes this garment as a workout and sports dress, it’s not really suited for, well, fitness. For example, when I did a 20-minute Pilates session at home, I had to take several breaks to readjust the built-in bra. The included shorts also kept riding up, making the workout uncomfortable. Constantly fiddling with my clothes made me feel self-conscious, which is not the mindset I want to be in when I work out.

But! While it’s not the best workout clothes, there is one benefit to working out that you should consider. If you plan on doing any walking, whether it’s around the neighborhood, at the zoo, or at a farmers market, this is the perfect piece to wear while you’re out and about. Again, the stretchy, breathable fabric will keep you cool and comfortable on a hot summer day. I also love that this is an easy outfit to throw on for low-key outdoor activities, like taking your kids to the park or a friend’s BBQ. Overall, it’s a great dress for the mom who’s always on the go.
