Today marks 59 days until the Purdue football season kicks off, so we turn our attention to #59 Thomas Tinsley.

There’s no doubt about it. Tinsley isn’t expected to make an impact this season. Tinsley is currently 240 pounds, assuming the weights on the Purdue Sports website are correct, and that’s just not what you want to see from one of your starting offensive linemen. We’d like to bump that up another 30+ pounds depending on the specific position Tinsley plays. For example, Marcus Mbow, who is slated to be a starter on the right side of the line, is currently 65 (one inch shorter than Tinsley) and weighs 305 pounds. I’m not saying Tinsley needs to be 305 pounds to find a starting role on the OL, I’m just saying that at 240 pounds, he has his work cut out for him.
Tinsley came to Purdue from Dyer, Indiana, at Lake Central High School. He was a high school swimmer and track athlete, and of course, football. His Purdue sports biography includes this interesting tidbit:

Imagine being voted best all-around senior. That doesn't mean senior athlete, so I assume Tinsely was just the best senior class member, regardless of category. I hope that's in the yearbook.
