Five Blue Devils Earn WGCA All-American Scholarships
DURHAM The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) has announced its All-American Scholars for the 2023-24 campaign with a school-record five members of the Duke women's golf program being selected Rylie Heflin, Andie Smit, Phoebe Brinker, Katie Li And Emma McMyler.
It was the second year in a row that the Blue Devils tied a school record with five golfers honored. Duke has received three or more selections in each of the last nine seasons.
Both Brinker and McMyler received honors for the fourth straight year, while Heflin received accolades for the third straight season. Smith was named for the second straight year, and Li was selected as a rookie.
Brinker and McMyler became just the sixth and seventh Blue Devils to earn the honor four times, joining Leona Maguire, Virginia Elena Card, Jaravee Boonchant, Megan Furtney And Erica Herder.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are among the most stringent in college sports. Student-athletes must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.50 and participate in 50.0 percent of a team's regular season competitions during the year.
