Ohio man playing soccer in knee-deep water bitten by shark on Florida beach

An Ohio tourist was bitten on a Florida beach while playing American football in knee-deep water on July 4, officials said.

Authorities said the 21-year-old Ohio man was playing soccer in knee-deep water off New Smyrna Beach when the shark bit him on his right foot.

According to police, the attack took place on Thursday, July 4 at 4 p.m.

The man was injured, but his life was not in danger. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

The July 4 shark attack came after four people were injured on a Texas beach that same day.

South Padre Island police and the U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic Region confirmed to Fox News Digital that four people were injured during the confrontation with the predator on South Padre Island in the the south coast of the state.

According to police, the attacks happened around 11 a.m. local time at Beach Access 14, near Wanna Wanna Beach Bar and Grill.

The 21-year-old's encounter with the shark comes after Florida was recently named the shark capital of the world.
