Grassroots heroes recognised at prestigious LTA Tennis Awards
Several distinguished guests, including Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester, attended the prestigious event at the LTA's National Tennis Centre. The ceremony was hosted by LTA President Sandi Procter and presented by Head of Men's Tennis Leon Smith.
The winners received their awards from a host of stars including Sir Trevor McDonald, Adrian Chiles, Lucy Shuker, Jeremy Bates, James Ward and Laura Robson.
The annual LTA Tennis Awards, presented by Lexus, highlight and celebrate the incredible achievements and contributions of people in the tennis world across the UK.
The campaign was first launched in 2015 with the help of former LTA President Cathie Sabin OBE, and recognises the vital work of volunteers, coaches, officials and players who give their valuable time and energy to the continued development and growth of the sport.
Over the past nine years, the awards have illustrated the depth of service and talent within the tennis community and served as an inspiration for others to join the sport.
The winners, selected from more than 2,200 nominations across 15 different categories, have all been recognised for their exceptional contribution to tennis in 2023.
Stephen Woodley received the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Juliet O'Mahony was named Cathie Sabin Volunteer of the Yearand Heidi Cornwall crowned Rising Star.
The Club of the Year award went to Pangbourne LTC, while Finsbury Park Access to Sports won the Park Venue of the Year award and the Competition of the Year award went to Cromer Lawn Tennis & Squash Club.
There was a repeat winner in the School of the Year category: Cardinal Newman in Pontypridd won the award for the second time, while Leeds Beckett was named University of the Year.
Sam Salt was named Performance Coach of the Year, while Pauline Fisher and Chris Hearn won the Senior Female and Senior Male Player of the Year awards respectively, while Tom Brown kicked things off with the Official of the Year award.
The Tennis for All award went to the Liverpool Tennis Centre, with Cheshire's Nichola Smith winning the Development Coach of the Year award.
Achieve More! Scotland won the Connecting Communities Award for their work in helping young people play tennis, while Ian Pearson-Brown was overcome with emotion as he won the LTA Presidents Award for his work in bringing LGBTQ+ inclusivity to tennis.
The best players from the grassroots competition were honoured, alongside elite award winners Cameron Norrie and Katie Boulter, who were crowned Male and Female Player of the Year.
Joe Salisbury again won the Doubles Player of the Year award, while Wimbledon boys' champion Henry Searle won the boys' award and Hannah Klugman won the girls' award.
In the wheelchair categories, Alfie Hewett won the Wheelchair Player of the Year award, while Dahnon Ward won the Junior Wheelchair Player award.
Aimee Gibson was on hand to collect her award for best female padel player, while Sam Jones won the award for best male padel player.

The incredible stories behind the finalists are so heartwarming to hear. The hard work and dedication of all the winners and runners-up is also incredible, and I am always so impressed by the selfless sacrifice of all the volunteers, officials and coaches.
