The Winona Area Youth Hockey Association (WAYHA) is pleased to announce significant changes aimed at making hockey more accessible to families in the Winona community for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. In an effort to encourage more families to consider joining the sport, WAYHA has approved lower rates and increased discounts.
The decision to reduce fees reflects WAYHA’s commitment to growing the sport of hockey in Winona. By removing financial barriers, WAYHA hopes to welcome new players and families into the hockey community, while making existing families feel supported and valued.
The early registration price (before September 1) for the 2024-2025 season is $150 for 6U (Mini Mite) and 8U (Mite), down from $325 in 2023-2024. It's $250 for 10U (Squirt), $350 for 12U (Peewee), and $450 for 15U (Bantam), all significantly lower than last year's price.
In addition to the reduced cost, WAYHA is pleased to offer free equipment to Learn to Skate and 8U participants, further reducing the financial burden for families new to the sport. Additionally, the association offers need-based scholarships, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to participate in hockey, regardless of their financial circumstances. It is important to note that WAYHA does not charge a fee for Learn to Skate, making it accessible to all interested participants.
WAYHA is proud to recognize its New Family Mentor Committee, chaired by Erika Vail. This committee plays a critical role in welcoming new families and helping them feel comfortable within the hockey community, ensuring a smooth transition into the sport.
