Sun Belt Football Media Days East Division Attendees Announced
NEW ORLEANSThe 2024 Sun Belt football season officially kicks off with Sun Belt Football Media Days on Tuesday, July 23 and Wednesday, July 24.
The event will take place at the New Orleans Marriott Warehouse Arts District in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana, and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+.
Media Day attendees (the head coach and two student-athletes from each program representing the Sun Belt East Division) are listed below.
The group includes reigning Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year App State senior quarterback Joey Aguilar, along with one All-Sun Belt First Team, one All-Sun Belt Second Team, one All-Sun Belt Third Team and four All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention selections from a year ago.
The Sun Belt West Division participants will be announced on Wednesday, July 10 at 1 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. CT.
The Sun Belt is coming off a 2023 season in which it defeated a conference-record four independent five programs, hosted ESPN's College GameDay for the third time in four seasons and produced a conference-record 12 bowl season participants, which is an FBS record.
After opening the 2023 season with four straight weeks of winning five league opponents to tie the conference record set in 2022, the Sun Belt boasted multiple teams reaching 10 wins for the sixth straight campaign and for the third straight year multiple teams reached the milestone during the regular season.
The Sun Belt is the only non-autonomous conference to have a team finish with two or fewer losses in each of the past seven seasons, with James Madison (11-2) extending the streak into 2023. The Dukes were 1-of-2 non-autonomous teams with two or fewer losses a year ago, joining New Years Six representative No. 23 Liberty (13-1).
The Sun Belt also has a .571 bowl winning percentage during the College Football Playoff era, trailing only the SEC (.584).
Five new head coaches (Georgia State's Dell McGee, James Madison's Bob Chesney, ULM's Bryant Vincent, South Alabama's Major Applewhite and Troy's Gerad Parker) will attend Sun Belt Football Media Days in preparation for their first seasons in the conference.
Sun Belt East Division programs App State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, James Madison, Marshall and Old Dominion will play on Tuesday, July 23.
Sun Belt West Division programs Arkansas State, Louisiana, ULM, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Texas State and Troy compete on Wednesday, July 24.
